The new GIC courses include courses offered by the GIC Center and GIC courses hosted by different faculties.

FAQ

Q. Who can enroll for a GIC class?
A. Undergraduate students from any faculty at Keio University are eligible to enroll for GIC classes. Students not affiliated with a faculty should consult with their host organization.
Q. How do I enroll for a GIC class?
A. Enroll for the class or classes you want to take within the enrollment period. You can find information about the different GIC classes available on this website.
Q. Do the credits for GIC classes count toward graduation?
A. Credits are dealt with differently by faculty, so check with the enrollment guide or student affairs section of your faculty.
Q. How many students can register for a GIC class?
A. GIC classes are limited to 30 students per class. A lottery will be held when the number of students wishing to register for a class exceeds the quota.
Q. What level of English (or the specified foreign language) is required?
A. There are no language prerequisites for enrollment. However, please note that all explanations, discussions, and assignments, etc., will be given in English or the specified language. Please refer to the syllabus for details about lecture content and learning format. Teaching assistants (TAs) will be present in class, so if you have any questions, you can ask them in class or outside of class.
Q. Are GIC classes only offered in English?
A. No, GIC classes are also offered in other languages. We hope to continue broadening the range of languages offered.
Q. What is the role of a Teaching Assistant (TA) in a GIC class?
A. A Teaching Assistant (TA) will attend the class and will help and support you in whatever way they can. They will also be available outside of class to answer your questions and to support you as you work on assignments.
Q. I joined Keio before 2024 and am working toward a GIC Certification of Completion. Where has the information about this gone?
A. The GIC changed from April 2024. Those who joined Keio before 2024 and who are working toward a GIC Certification of Completion should refer tothe old GIC website.
